Once upon a time: the WITTEKIND story
2009 | How it all began ...
Thorsten Keller spontaneously builds the first WITTEKIND- or TREIBHOLZ-Sofa for a friend's silver wedding anniversary. When many of the guests responded positively to it, the idea of marketing such lounge furniture made from used wood developed.
2010 | TREIBHOLZ Furniture
Together with Christian Wählen (Westaro Möbel GmbH & Co. KG) and Thomas Kilian (Thoxan E-Commerce GmbH), Thorsten Keller (Keller & Wehbrink Möbelteile GmbH) founds a joint company.
2014 | New name, new luck
Another company asserts its rights to the "Treibholz" brand. We reach an amicable agreement and change our company name to Wittekind Möbel UG (haftungsbeschränkt) at the beginning of 2014.
2015 | Invitation to try out
From 2015, we will be an annual exhibitor at the Landpartie Schloss Bückeburg as an exhibitor. We introduce numerous visitors to our furniture in the large open space next to the main entrance.
2016 | WITTEKIND grows
More and more businesses are becoming aware of WITTEKIND . Our Lounge and catering furniture provides comfortable seating for guests in hotels, restaurants, cafés and parks.
2020 | Corona years
During the coronavirus pandemic, not only does Landpartie Schloss Bückeburg fall flat, but demand from the catering and commercial sectors also drops to a minimum. We change our marketing strategy and owe two successful years to the end customer business.
2022 | New plans
We professionalize production, hire two new colleagues and develop further new products for our extensive Lounge and gastro furniture range.
2023 | Garden Symphony
After a three-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic and the time schedule, we are finally back at the Landpartie Schloss Bückeburg again. A new stand concept and new cooperation partners will ensure two successful participations in 2023 and 2024.
2024 | Friendly takeover
Managing Directors Thorsten Keller and Christian Wählen are leaving the company for personal reasons. Thomas Kilian, the third WITTEKIND co-founder and Managing Director of Thoxan E-Commerce GmbH, will continue to run the brand. He is leading the company into a new development phase with a strategic realignment.
Wooden furniture with history
Some write books to tell stories - we build furniture. Our furniture manufactory only uses used spruce wood that has been in use for years and has already had to withstand wind and weather.
Our exclusive Lounge, patio and restaurant furniture tell their stories in the garden, on the terrace or balcony as well as in bars and cafés, proudly displaying small scars and showing off their "bruises".
We do not use tropical wood!
We have made a conscious decision not to use tropical wood! Overexploitation for furniture made from tropical wood, such as mahogany, teak or rosewood, is a very sad chapter in our history and present.
Through the ruthless deforestation of subtropical and tropical forests in Africa, Latin America and Asia, sensitive, valuable and important ecosystems are disappearing year after year - along with thousands of animal and plant species.
Second chance for the board
WITTEKIND uses only local, used and well-weathered spruce wood for its fine Lounge, patio, restaurant and garden furniture. This means that no trees are felled for our production!
For this reason, we speak with a clear conscience about sustainable furniture with an excellent CO2 balance. We give the raw material wood a new, meaningful purpose.

Thoxan E-Commerce GmbH takes over the business operations of the furniture brand WITTEKIND

Thoxan E-Commerce GmbH from Hille is taking over the operations of Wittekind Möbel UG (haftungsbeschränkt) with immediate effect. The previous managing directors Thorsten Keller and Christian Wählen are withdrawing from the company for personal reasons. Thomas Kilian, the third WITTEKIND co-founder and managing director of the Thoxan agency group, will continue to run the brand, which is known for Lounge and garden furniture made from used solid wood. He is leading the company into a new phase of development with a strategic realignment.

He mainly advises B2B companies from the IT, industrial, medical technology and furniture sectors throughout Germany. At WITTEKIND , he and his team take care of the website and online marketing.
Daniel Kilian
Customer service
Daniel Kilian has been responsible for customer service at Thoxan E-Commerce GmbH for ten years. Since October 2024, he has been advising WITTEKIND customers on the selection of suitable garden and contract furniture. He not only brings with him many years of experience in the sale of high-quality designer carpets, but has also known WITTEKIND for many years through his support at trade fairs and events.
